"It is now the most exciting and momentous time for the US-China relationship," said US Ambassadors to China Max Baucus at the press conference and preview of the documentary film "AMERICA WILD: A National Parks Adventure" in Beijing on July 3, 2015.
To celebrate the centennial of the US National Park Service in 2016, a documentary movie tribute to the US national parks has been filmed and will be released in February 2016. On July 3, 2015, a press conference and preview event is held at Beijing Wanda Theater for the giant screen film "AMERICA WILD: A National Parks Adventure".
In addition to the national park theme, speakers at the event all emphasize the importance of tourism in strengthening the China-US relationship. Ambassador Baucus notes that the more people travel and see the other country, the greater possibilities for China and US to break barriers and build a closer bilateral relationship.
US Secretary of Interior Sally Jewell says that the thriving of tourism exchanges between China and US would bring economic growth for the two countries as well. Last year, 2 million Chinese tourists visited the US and contributed 24 billion dollar to the US economy. And these numbers are being expected to grow dramatically — 20 percent growth rate in 2015, and 160 percent by 2020.
Ms. Yin, the representative of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) says that tourism is the area that China and US share the most commons, have the least conflicts, and be able to result the best effects.
Representative of Brand USA, one of the major organizers of the event, says that this film will just be a start, more movies about the US culture, food, city experience will be filmed, and China will be a very important market to target and promote these, hoping to encourage more people to go to the US.
