
In Gufeng village of Jingxian, eastern China’s Anhui province, there is an oil paper umbrella factory which is very well known both domestically and internationally. According to Zheng Guomin, the man in charge of the factory, making an oil paper umbrella takes a whole week and involves 12 processes. The oil paper umbrella is a city-level intangible cultural heritage. Zheng says that they have applied for province-level intangible cultural heritage title for oil paper umbrellas. At the same time, the factory is also developing garden oil paper umbrellas to inherit the culture of the traditional handicraft.
