Yue Zongying, from Tangshan city, majored in fine arts in university and is full of enthusiasm in daily life. She became addicted to paper-cutting in university and has persisted in this hobby for several years.
As one of the ancient folk arts in China, paper-cutting not only has beautiful images and rich spiritual connotation, but is also a carrier of long history and profound culture.
With the development of modern society, paper-cutting is gradually disappearing in people's lives. Most of the enthusiasts are old people who have good techniques but lack innovation. Yue Zongying, a post-90s girl, adds the feelings of a young beauty and enriches the styles and characters of this folk art.
Yue's teacher is Yuan Chengxiang, who is a paper-cutting master and the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan province. Learning from such an amazing teacher, plus enough personal endeavors, Yue made big progress in half a year. And she was happy when she received praises and some of her works were displayed in various exhibitions.
It has been half a year since Yue graduated from university. She never gives up the hobby and keeps practicing every day even though sometimes she feels too tired after a day's work. She hopes to inherit this classic folk art in her whole life.
