Xitang Ancient Town is within 100 kilometers of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. Crisscrossed by rivers, the town is representative of a typical water town in southeast China. Stone-paved lanes run between age-old dwellings with white walls and black tiles. Riverside corridors are connected into a 1,000-meter-long corridor that is covered by roofs to protect pedestrians from rain and sun.
