There will soon be 17 special police trucks put into use in Chengdu, in southwest China’s Sichuan province. Each of these trucks is equipped with drug detecting toilets, high-intensity searchlights, surveillance devices and more. Each truck will be assigned to a county in Sichuan province for the purpose of searching and collecting information on drug crimes.
These special police trucks are approximately the size of a motor home. There is a lounge with bunk beds as well as a detention room. Each truck can hold about 15 policemen at one time. The trucks are also equipped with other living facilities like microwaves and hot water showers. The toilets on the trucks are all imported from abroad. The alkaline liquid used in the toilets can detect whether the suspect carries drugs inside the body, and the valve of the toilet ensures that the evidence does not dissolve.
Each of these truck costs one million yuan. In addition to all the basic equipment, the trucks are also set up with x-ray searching systems. Drugs, weapons and explosives can all be detected by the system on the truck.
The specialty equipment on the truck is mostly for searching and investigating drug crimes, though the trucks can also help support anti-terrorism efforts, public security and other criminal investigations. These trucks are sure to become a very important part of the public security network.
