
Pretoria, July 29 (People’s Daily Online) - The Chinese Embassy in South Africa held a celebration today to mark the upcoming 88th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
The event in honor of the anniversary that falls on Aug 1st, was attended by around 300 guests, including representatives of the South African armed forces, defense attaches from embassies in South Africa, foreign diplomats and overseas Chinese.
Chinese Defense Attache Snr. Col. Xu Jianwei, in his welcome speech, highlighted the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, saying China as the main battle field in Asia, made tremendous sacrifices and contributions to the victory of the World War II.
He also expressed his appreciation on this opportunity to the South African Defense Ministry and SANDF for their various help and support.
