Born in June 1962 in Hong Kong, Anthony Wong is a famous alternative singer, composer and producer. Wong began his career as a DJ at Commercial Radio Hong Kong in 1984.
In 1995, Wong formed the duo Tat Ming Pair with composer and guitarist Tats Lau Yi Tat. During the following five years, the band published more than 15 albums and won numerous awards in Hong Kong and other places in China. After the group disbanded in 1990, Wong continued his musical career as a solo singer and later also as a producer.
In 1999, he founded the music production company People Mountain People Sea with a group of talented artists and musicians in Hong Kong. The company produced and published albums for a range of high-profiled pop singers, including Leslie Cheung, Faye Wong, Sandy Lam, Eason Chan, Nicholas Tse and Miriam Yeun.
Following the conclusion of his concert series at the Hong Kong Coliseum in April 2012, Wong publicly came out as gay, stating "People don't need to guess whether or not I'm gay anymore...I'm saying, I'm gay. I'm a homosexual. G-A-Y." Since then, Wong has been active in promoting legislation for non-discrimination due to sexual orientation.
