On April 12, 2016, the 2016 "Chinese Tea--Pu'er's Taste" Pu'er Tea Culture Activity Month officially started.

The culture activity month, revolving around Pu'er tea, is being organized with Pu'er City's Tea & Coffee Industry Bureau as its initiator and its tea association as its organizer. Many of Pu'er's tea businesses and culture-related institutions are also faithfully taking part in its execution. In fact, the culture activity month has been planned as a tea culture-centric event that is led by the government and the trade association, executed by many tea businesses and joined by the general public. The activity is still ongoing and expected to last from April 12 until April 27, involving such events as the 2016 Pu'er Tea Contest, the Pu'er Tea Art Competition, the Yunnan Pu'er Tea Industry Technological Innovation Strategic Alliance Meeting and the Yunnan Tea Industry Innovation Achievement Report Conference, and the 2016 Pu'er Tea Contest Product Auction.
