On May 1, 2016, tens of thousands of people from all the ethnic groups of Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Yunnan, gathered together to paint each other's face black to exchange all the best wishes, celebrating the annual Solar Festival.
Painting each other's faces black is the traditional way of expressing good wishes in Mojiang County. Mojiang County, Yunnan, is China's only Hani autonomous county, through which the Tropic of Cancer passes through. This is why the county is called "the place where the sun turns around."
